About Me: A Women’s therapist in Georgia

Hi! I’m Monique Wischusen, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Georgia.

Thank you for being here. Seeking out therapy is one of the most life-changing decisions that you can make.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of New Orleans, and my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern Mississippi.

I specialize in women’s therapy - focusing on mothers, young professionals, parenting, and transition periods.  I use Internal Family Systems, Strength-Based, and EMDR therapeutic techniques to facilitate growth in those that I work with.

As your therapist, I am passionate about guiding you along the journey to:

  • Develop strong self-esteem

  • Overcome anxiety and depression

  • Replace unhealthy thought patterns

  • Manage your stress

  • Have meaningful relationships with healthy boundaries

  • Institute practices in self-care

  • Overcome imposter syndrome

  • Increase mindfulness and body awareness

Through your time working with me, you will form new and healthy thought processes about yourself, others, and the world. You will establish a new pattern of behavior that is in alignment with your values and your goals. You will be able to communicate effectively and empathetically causing your relationships to flourish. If you do the work, the results will come.

As your therapist, I am dedicated to my own personal development and growth - this means that I also work through the same things that my clients are working through.  I integrate what I have learned into my work as a therapist. Along with my private practice, I work with the Maven Clinic to provide support, therapeutic interventions, and coaching for women around the country.  I also am adjunct faculty at the University of Southern New Hampshire in the Psychology Department.

To provide you with the best and most relevant therapeutic techniques, I regularly complete training and courses to further refine my skills. Of note, I earned the TeleMental Health Training Certificate (THTC) through the completion of the comprehensive THTC program. I am currently obtaining certification and have training in intensive trauma work such as EMDR and Internal Family Systems.

I am looking forward to getting to know you. Schedule your first session with me today. Your future self will thank you.

Monique

“To see and hear what is here, instead of what should be, was, or will be. To say what I feel and think instead of what I should. To feel what I feel instead of what I ought. To ask for what I want instead of always waiting for permission. To take risks on my behalf, instead of choosing to be safe and not rock the boat.”
